Why do you want to dress the way you do was asked and the responses went like this:
There are many reasons we want to dress the way we do, one of them being the way we were raised. The things we were exposed to as a child because they're etched in your mind. You won't know why, but you'll be driven towards buying "that piece" as opposed to something of exactly same color and fabric, just a different shape. Our taste for certain clothing come from a subconscious place, so our parents or the people we grew up with, affect our choices. We also gravitate towards the clothing that originally made us feel great, safe and secure.
Do you know why we wear clothing?
At creation man was clothed with the righteousness and glory of God. Through disobedience, Adam stripped himself, and his descendants, of the righteousness and glory he possessed. Their physical nakedness is a symbol of their spiritual nakedness. They (Adam and Eve) perceived they were naked and sought to cover themselves with fig leaves; they hid from God. They no longer felt great, safe, and secure because of their sin.
By nature, Man now seeks to self righteously cover themselves in futile attempts to bring oneself into a right standing before God. Man can never "be" good enough. Through grace, God comes - in the work of redemption - to clothe Man with the righteousness of Christ. Our only sufficient grounds of covering. On the day of judgement God is not only committed to removing our guilt, He is also committed to cleansing our corrupt nature.
“Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.[a] 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” 5 And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” Rev. 21:3 - 5a, NLT
"The beauty of taking a journey is knowing your destination and choosing the best path to get there."
My journey has been as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and employee serving other business owners. My daily routine was rushing out the house trying to get four children to their destinations, then driving frantically to beat the 8 o'clock punch in on the time clock! While at work, I gave my best to my employer; there were days when my best was not good enough, but I gave my best anyway!
Then life took a dramatic turn. The children became young adults creating their own lives; found my self with the "empty nest". The stress level at work increased; it was hard to keep a smile your face. God called me to become a small business owner.
I suddenly had many new responsibilities and began to realize what drives the retail world is many worries and fears. I surrendered my life to Christ on January 14, 2001, but found during this season of life I had not surrendered ALL of my heart to him until 2012 following a divorce of a 16 year marriage. Worry and fear consumed me. I am still learning to surrender to Christ - knowing God's word says "not to worry or fear, but to seek first His Kingdom and his righteousness." I am now faced with more decision-making for the business than I had ever experienced before.
Once I again I need to surrender; placing the worries and fears of my business to God and "...seek first His Kingdom and righteousness." It has almost been a year since the store opened, and God has always been faithful in meeting needs. My business continues, but I understand it has only been by God's grace.
I pray you'll be able to focus on your destination of your journey, and always put God first.
Linen in the fall? Absolutely! Hot summer days are still present well into early November. If you live here in the Southern States, we can get hot days into early December! Nothing like hanging Christmas lights holding onto the edge of your roof, swatting mosquitoes!
Linen can be found in Fall colors of flax, blues, grays, and black! I love the fact that you can dress your linen pieces up or down, depending on your preference, add a scarf or vest and some accessories, BAM; an outfit designed for comfort! I find there's nothing more satisfying than a black linen top and a great fitting pair of jeans!
Think about this... the weather starts to drop outside and the heaters come on! At your employment everyone is using the thermostat like a yoyo, up and then down, back up again! And lord help us hormonal women... the hot flashes begin, and we go to sweating! But you're linen top is keeping you cool, helping your body to breath, not to mention wicks away perspiration faster than cotton!
Linen clothing in the Fall is appropriate and a must! Quite frankly, I say wear it year round but choose your colors to match the seasons!
